3005 Aluminum Sheet Plate
3005 aluminum is a 3xxx series aluminum alloy. The strength of 3005 aluminum plate is about 20% higher than that of 3003 aluminum plate, and it is more corrosion-resistant and belongs to rust-proof aluminum plate.
Composition of 3005 aluminum
Aluminum (Al): 96.8 - 98.8%
Manganese (Mn): 1.0 - 1.5%
Magnesium (Mg): 0.2 - 0.6%
Copper (Cu): 0.0 - 0.3%
Silicon (Si): 0.0 - 0.6%
Iron (Fe): 0.0 - 0.7%
Zinc (Zn): 0.0 - 0.25%
Mechanical Properties of 3005 aluminum:
Tensile Strength: Approximately 130-200 MPa (18,900-29,000 psi) depending on temper.
Yield Strength: Approximately 95-145 MPa (13,800-21,000 psi) depending on temper.
Elongation: Can vary from 5-20% depending on the form and temper.
Features of 3005 aluminum plate
Corrosion Resistance: Good resistance to atmospheric and seawater corrosion.
Strength: Medium strength, higher than 1100 and 3003 aluminum alloys.
Formability: Good formability in the softer tempers.
Weldability: Can be welded using all common techniques.
Tempers of 3005 aluminum plate
3005 H14 : Strain-hardened and partially annealed, with moderate strength and good workability.
3005 H24 : Strain-hardened and partially annealed, with medium strength and good formability.
